Dr. Gary Yarnall and his Wife Sandi
credentials and a story
Dr. Gary Yarnall spent his career in educating multi-handicapped children. He extensively studied the deaf and blind and has a passion for enabling them to communicate. Though not the student, his wife Sandi spent all of his years in education by his side aiding him in his research and even opening their home to some students who would otherwise live in institutions.
All of this time came in handy when Dr. Yarnall suffered a stroke and found himself unable to speak. Sandi was able to use sign language to begin communicating with him and to jump start his rehabilitation.
This inspired the two to author a book on utilizing sign language for stroke survivors.
